Fabulous February

Fabulous parties have filled this February.  First Helena kicked off her birthday with the annual Date with Dad. She took all her time getting ready, posed happily for pictures and packed her purse with lip gloss, money, and gum for friends!  Date with Dad is a very well-attended event with dancing, tiaras, delicious dinner and desserts.  It was a truly special way to celebrate her birthday with her Daddy.   We then celebrated on the weekend with a Rainbow Dash party at our house.  Helena's latest obsession is My Little Pony. She had three simple requests - a moonjump, facepainting, and a pinata. Done, done, and done! The weather cooperated considering the past year - there was rain ... the year before that there was sleet and a freeze! The pictures will follow her through the party. When it was all over, she declared it was the best party ever!  A few days later, I hosted a 40th Surprise Luncheon for my dear friend Shenna. I can't remember the last time I was even involved with a surprise party but it's not easy! I was counting down the days because it had became painful to even speak to her. I was too nervous I would let something slip. She seriously thought I and the other hosts were just too busy to think about her birthday. The surprise worked and her reaction was extremely touching.  Enjoy the fabulous pics.

First Helena's Date with Dad. I wish I could be a fly on the wall at this event so I could have many pictures. Helena and Ryan did get a professional picture taken at the event.

Then her party...

Kick off to February!

February is one of my favorite months.  By now I am done with trying to make an unrealistic resolution list and have finally settled on 2 things to focus on!  February means a break from months of football, Valentine's Day, cool but not cold weather, and Helena's birthday!  Tomorrow is her 5th birthday.  I go back 5 years ago this night and remember the excitement and anticipation. We scheduled an induction so we knew we would meet our little girl the next day.  Her labor was a breeze, but her actual birth was a little bumpy. All of the chaos disappeared quickly when she made it safely into our arms.  We are truly blessed with this beautiful little girl. I love her personality, her strength, her sense of humor, and her compassion for others.

I can't wait to wake her up tomorrow and share her special day.  Cinnamon rolls are on the birthday breakfast menu!  Date with Dad falls on her birthday this year and her party this weekend.  The past week was chaotic with finishing up a mini-kitchen remodel, birthday parties, soccer and lots of running for our marathon training (ONE MONTH away), but all I can think about is my girl.

Third time is a Charm

Do I dare? Third time is a charm, right? My dreams of turning the blog at the end of a year into a scrapbook is just that A DREAM.  Considering I am four years behind on traditional scrapbooking and have all those pictures in folders on my computer, I have to try again!

This year is already moving fast.  Everyone is back into their school & after school routines.  We are blessed to be busy at work and we are enjoying every minute of Helena's last semester in pre-school. She can't wait to join Asa at Gonzalez next year!  Asa just finished his flag football season and Tyler has started his first year of basketball in middle school. Here are some pictures of Asa at tonight's boy scout Pinewood Derby Race.
